First Time Vistors - How to Use This Website

The information on this page is for reference and educational purposes. There is no substitute for seeing an attorney or doctor.

Welcome

This website was designed to direct you to other websites pertaining to Frontotemporal Dementia issues. Nearly every web page on this website will have a general description of the page, a Quick Link Menu, and two sections with useful links.

What is the Quick Link Menu for?

Most pages have a "Best FTD Resources " section and another section called "Other Internet Articles." If you want to go directly to either section you click on the appropriate word phase. For example, if you want to look at the "Other Internet Articles" on a web page you can click on "Other Internet Articles" and the system will take you to that section. A Quick Link Menu may have other options to click on, too.

Quick Links

What is the "Best FTD Resources " section?

This section includes the following resources:

  • The book "What If It's Not Alzheimer's" by Lisa Radin and Gary Radin,
  • The Association of Frontotemporal Dementia website
  • The Pick's Disease Support Group website
  • The University of California, San Francisco website
  • The Family Caregiver Alliance website
  • The National Institutes of Health website

The resources listed above are some helpful resources for Frontotemporal Dementia. While the book "What If It's Not Alzheimer's" is not a website, the book offers a great deal of information about Frontotemporal Dementia. None of the six resources are going to cover every topic listed on this website. Most of these resources discuss a lot of important topics. There are also many great articles elsewhere.

If one of the resources has a paragraph, a chapter in a book, or a web page discussing the topic this section will let you know the pages to read or the web page to visit. If it is a web page, you can click on the web page link and you will be redirected to the web page. Once you are ready to move on, click on your <Back> button to get back to the previous section.

Displayed below is a "Best FTD Resources " section from the "Caregiver's Issues - Managing Behaviors" web page. In the book, "What If It's Not Alzheimer's," you can go to Chapter 5 and read pages 73-90 for more information about managing behaviors. The Association of Frontotemporal Dementia has a paragraph or web page on managing behaviors.

A resource may have multiple articles to read. For example, "Pick's Disease Support Group" below has three different articles to read about managing behaviors. If a resource does not have any information about a particular topic, you will see, "No information was found on this website about this topic. for this topic on this website."

Each website also has a link directly to the resource right behind the resource title. The "(Website)" link will take you to the home page for the website.

What is the "Other Internet Articles" section?

This section lists other web pages with information about the same topic. These are articles you could read. Usually each topic will have a brief description and then a link to the website for you to click to access the website as shown below. Remember, there maybe multiple articles from the same website.

Other Internet Articles

The Federal government agency Dept of Health and Human Services created a brochure about safety for people with dementia. It addresses Alzheimer's patients. The article is " Alzheimer's Safety Catalog - Making Your Home Safe for Your Loved One (PDF) ."
